Projects
KLICE is currently engaged in two exciting projects in partnerships with Theos and the Bible Society, both aimed to disseminating the fruits of academic political theology to wide audience of practitioners. See the Projects page for further information.
Recent KLICE grantee Guido de Graaff successfully defended his doctoral thesis on ‘The Gift of Common Judgment: A Theological Analysis of Politics in Friendship’ at Oxford University in December 2010. His superviser was Dr. Bernd Wannenwetsch. In summer 2010 he took up a full-time position as Tutor in Doctrine and Ethics at South East Institute for Theological Education (SEITE), a regional, interdenominational ministerial training centre. From 2006-2009 he served as Conference Secretary for the Society for the Study of Christian Ethics (SSCE), and remains a member of the committee. He has published reviews in Studies in Christian Ethics (the SSCE journal), an entry for the new edition of the New Dictionary of Theology (IVP), and translated four essays by a leading German theologian, Robert Spaemann (with James Mumford).
Recent KLICE grantee successful defended his doctoral thesis at Edinburgh University in January 2010. His thesis was titled 'Political Affections: A Theological Inquiry' and was supervised by Prof. Oliver O’Donovan. Joshua has also tutored and lectured in Christian ethics at Edinburgh. In 2009-2010 he serves both as Junior Research Fellow at Wolfson College, Cambridge and as the first KLICE Research Associate. He was organiser of the annual Postgraduate Forum of the Society for the Study of Christian Ethics in 2008-9, and has worked as assistant to the Executive Director of ‘Trinity Forum Europe’, which stages influential public events relating ethics and faith to public issues.
We are currently seeking funds for a designated KLICE doctoral research grant in the area of theology and law.
